Building strong foundations for reading, writing, math and a lifelong love of learning.
Age 5 · The bridge to Elementary School
Kindergarten is the final year of the French école maternelle — a year when children strengthen the academic, social and emotional foundations that prepare them for a confident transition to Elementary School.
What Children Learn
Language & Early ReadingChildren strengthen their French vocabulary and oral expression, listen to and understand increasingly complex stories, play with sounds and syllables, and begin connecting spoken language with written words — building strong foundations for reading.
Writing & Fine Motor SkillsChildren develop pencil control, learn to form letters, write their first words and understand that writing is a way to communicate ideas.
Early Math & Problem SolvingChildren develop number sense through counting, comparing quantities and solving simple problems. They explore shapes, patterns, measurement, sorting and spatial relationships through hands-on activities.
Exploring the WorldChildren observe nature and living things, experiment with materials and objects, and develop their understanding of time and space through investigation and discovery.
Arts, Music & CreativityChildren express themselves through drawing, painting, music, singing, movement and creative projects while discovering a variety of artists and artistic forms.
Movement & Physical DevelopmentChildren develop coordination, balance, agility and body awareness through running, jumping, climbing, throwing, games and cooperative physical activities.
Independence & Learning SkillsChildren learn to organize themselves, follow classroom routines, collaborate with others, sustain attention and become increasingly independent and confident learners.
